David Zafer began his musical training on the violin. He has earned an international reputation as an accomplished performer. His career has spanned a full spectrum from recitalist, chamber musician, Associate Concertmaster of the Baltimore Symphony, Concertmaster of the Hart House Orchestra, National Ballet of Canada and participant of the Marlboro and Stratford Festival. He has served as performance coach of the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, Director of the Canadian Chamber Ensemble, Banff Centre. Since 1968, he has been Professor of Violin. During this time he has given masterclasses across Canada, United States and Europe. In 1994 and 1996 he was invited to Reina Sofia School in Madrid, where he held masterclasses and conducted the chamber orchestra. Currently, he is the Principal Conductor of the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, Conductor of the University of Toronto Chamber Orchestra and founder of the Zafer String Institute for advanced string players. |
