Patricia Shand teaches string pedagogy courses at the undergraduate level, and teaches a Graduate Seminar in Canadian music education. She is Director of the John Adaskin Project (Canadian Music for Schools), a national research project sponsored by the Canadian Music Centre and the Canadian Music Educators' Association. She has written books and articles on Canadian music for student performers, has co-authored two books analysing music curriculum documents published in Canada, has edited a book on multicultural music education, and is an associate of the Canadian Music Education Research Centre. As a violinist, she performs with the Trinity Chamber Ensemble and adjudicates at music festivals. In 1993, she was presented with the Jubilate Award of Merit by CMEA for outstanding contribution to music education in Canada. She is currently serving as one of six commissioners of the Music in Schools and Teacher Education Commission of the International Society for Music Education. |
