John has performed with the Toronto Symphony, the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra, the National Ballet of Canada Orchestra and has also been a soloist with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra. He has performed and recorded with the contemporary electroacoustic ensemble, Sound Pressure, and is a long-time member of the Toronto Percussion Ensemble. A deep interest in rhythmic improvisation has led him from the world of drumset and jazz to studies with world-renowned mrdangam virtuoso, Trichy Sankaran. He is currently completing a PhD in ethnomusicology. He teaches percussion at the University of Toronto, York University, and the University of Waterloo. |
