Double Bass

Paul Rogers hails from London, Ontario. He joined the Toronto Symphony Orchestra 22 years ago, after having played in the National Arts Centre Orchestra for four years. In Ottawa he was also the Principal Bass of the Thirteen Strings and the Ottawa Symphony. He attended the University of Toronto where he studied with Thomas Monohan. After graduation Paul played a year in the Orchestral Training Program of the Royal Conservatory of Music.  Also studying one summer at the Banff Centre of the Arts with Stuart Knussen and three summers with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada. He has played a summer with Colorado Philharmonic (now the National Repertoire Orchestra) out of Colorado. Paul has performed with numerous orchestras including the Hamilton Philharmonic, Canadian Opera Company, Brantford Symphony, Symphony Nova Scotia and Orchestra London.

Paul has been the double bass coach of the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra for the past 14 years as well as a bass instructor/chamber music coach at the Faculty of Music, University of Toronto.
