Stephen Pierre has performed twelve seasons as principal clarinet with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra and the New Hamilton Orchestra, as well as the Opera Hamilton Orchestra. He has also held that position with the Victoria Symphony. He is an inaugural member of the renowned chamber ensemble ''chamberWORKS! ". Mr. Pierre has toured extensively throughout British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Alaska often as soloist with such orchestras as the Victoria Symphony and the Hamilton Philharmonic.
A native of Grimsby, Stephen attended the University of Toronto, and studied with renowned clarinetists Robert Marcellus of the Cleveland Orchestra, and Stanley McCartney and Avrahm Galper, both of the Toronto Symphony.
Stephen is currently on the faculties of both the University of Toronto and McMaster University. Many of his students are now pursuing musical careers in such prestigious institutions as the Indiana University School of Music and the University of Toronto Faculty of Music. |
