Eraine Schwing-Braun

Opera, Performance, Lieder  

Born in South Africa of German parents, Eraine Schwing-Braun received her formal and musical training and music education in Germany. After coming to Canada, she studied with Dr. Ernesto Vinci and enrolled in the Artist Diploma and Opera School programmes at the U. of T. She appeared with the Canadian Opera Company, the CBC and the Stratford Festival. In 1963, she and her husband returned to Europe to pursue their musical careers. Ms. Schwing-Braun joined the Royal Conservatory of Music Faculty in 1986 where she teaches Voice, German Diction, 19th Century Vocal Literature and Lied Study. Since 1991, she has been the German language coach for the Canadian Opera Company. She is an adjudicator, conducts workshops and masterclasses and is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
