A minimum of six full-courses taken over two years is required for the degree, including MUS 3100Y, its continuation MUS 3105Y, and MUS3990Y. Candidates may be required to take additional courses based on the results of diagnostic tests in musical analysis, counterpoint, and harmony given upon entrance. Under the guidance of an advisor, each student will prepare an original composition in large form or an electroacoustic composition of comparable dimensions which will be defended at a final oral examination.
