At the University of Toronto, students study with woodwind faculty who are performers and teachers with international reputations. Our woodwind performance program is stimulating and flexible, designed to produce thinking musicians who are strong in artistry, creativity and career development skills.
Students can chose from a selection of Toronto’s finest teachers, including experts in specific techniques and performance styles. Our instrument bank provides specialized instruments (contrabass clarinets, English horns, contrabassoons, historical woodwinds) on loan for use in ensembles. Performance ensembles are an integral part of the performance experience, exposing the students to a broad range of conducting and coaching styles.

Students at the Faculty of Music enjoy a vast array of performing opportunities in both large and small ensembles. Woodwind students experience large ensemble performance with the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra, University of Toronto Wind Ensemble and University of Toronto Symphonic Band. Small ensemble experience is gained through chamber music, various brass ensembles and the Contemporary Music Ensemble.
