Advanced Certificate in Performance

This selective graduate level program is a one-year intensive full-time course of study which allows students to focus on the development of practical performance skills in a high level. The curriculum includes applied lessons, recital and appropriate ensemble, performance, literature and pedagogy courses selected in consultation with the Program Advisor. Electives may include courses in performance styles and literature, pedagogy, languages, world music, performance skills and the business of music.  The program is available in the following instruments: Accordion, Voice, Piano, Strings, Brass, Woodwinds and Percussion.  In addition, there is the opportunity for students to enroll within the Baroque option, on period instruments, in conjunction with Tafelmusik.  Enrollment in the Advanced Certificate program is limited.

 

Baroque Program with Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra

The Baroque Option is offered by the Faculty of Music in conjunction with its Baroque Orchestra-in-Residence, Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra.  The Baroque Option is a one-year programme of intensive immersion in baroque performance on period instruments. Programme includes private lessons with Tafelmusik musicians, a recital, a relevant history course as an elective, ensemble coaching, an opportunity to perform with Tafelmusik in concert at the Faculty of Music, an independent study project with an advisor, and attendance at Tafelmusik rehearsals and concerts.  This programme is offered exclusively for performers on period instruments.
