Academic Requirements
To be eligible to apply to the Advanced Certificate program in Performance, you must have completed a Bachelor of Music Degree, Diploma or the equivalent. This one-year program is not available to students graduating from High School, due to its focus on Graduate levels of Performance.
Applicants who have not completed at least four years of satisfactory full-time study in an English Language school system in a country where the dominant language is English, are required to provide proof of English Facility. Kindly refer to the University of Toronto Admissions and Awards website for more information on the options available.
Audition Requirements
All applicants must participate in an audition/interview. Those within 400km/250 miles ofToronto will audition in person. Others may send in a recording. All applicants however, are strongly advised to come for a live audition. Auditions are held in February and March. Applicants may audition on any standard orchestral or band instrument, classical guitar, free bass accordion, historical instrument, piano, organ or voice. Applicants to the Baroque Option must audition on period instruments. The repertoire for all auditions must be approved by the Faculty of Music. All repertoire must be performed at a level equivalent to a graduate program Master’s audition. Applicants will be notified of their assigned audition date as soon as possible after the receipt of their completed application.
Applicants must provide their own accompaniment.
