A richly layered score for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet from Christos Hatzis

Going Home Star- Truth and Reconciliation is the most important dance ever mounted by the Royal Winnipeg Ballet in its incredible 75-year history….and we are proud of Christos for his involvement. Collaborating with Tanya Tagaq, Steve Wood and the Northern Cree Singers who perform on stage during the show—Christos Hatzis has provided a richly layered score for this emotional ballet.

“It was probably one of the most significant experiences, musical experiences of my life so far”

- Christos Hatzis

Commissioned by Artistic Director André Lewis, the ballet traces the story of a young urban Aboriginal, Annie, who is adrift and lost within contemporary urban life.  Annie meets Gordon, a trickster disguised as a homeless man and together they come to terms with the overpowering past—the residential school—which Gordon symbolically carries on his back throughout the first act.
