Dr. Laurel Forshaw receives 2021 Outstanding Dissertation Award

Fantastic news for recent graduate Dr. Laurel Forshaw (2021) who has received the 2021 Outstanding Dissertation Award (ODA) for “Engaging Indigenous Voices in the Academy: Indigenizing Music in Canadian Universities.” Sponsored by the Council of Research in Music Education, the award recognizes research excellence in doctoral students in music education who defended in a given calendar year. Nominating faculty member Dr. Lori Dolloff said of the award: “There is only one award per year, and recipients from its inception in 1990 to the present reads like a who’s who in the academic study of music education. Congratulations to our alumna on this award for her very important research on Indigenizing the Academy.”
