Riki Turofsky Master Class in Voice

Jordan de Souza, conductor

The Faculty of Music is thrilled to welcome Canadian conductor Jordan de Souza as this year's Riki Turofsky Master Class in Voice artist. Hailed by the New York Times as part of “the new generation leading Berlin’s classical music scene,” Jordan de Souza's 23-24 season sees him return to the Canadian Opera Company to conduct La bohème; Opéra de Montréal for La traviata and the Philharmonia Orchestra for a concert in their Royal Festival Hall Series, following a very successful collaboration with them conducting Strauss Der Rosenkavalier at Garsington Opera in 2021. He will also make debuts with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales; Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and at Santa Fe Opera, conducting the world premiere of The Righteous, a new opera by Gregory Spears.

A message from Riki Turofsky
When I was a student at Opera School, we did not have master classes with visiting artists. After graduation I participated in classes with exceptional artists like Lotte Lehmann, Pierre Bernac and Martial Singher. Those unique experiences are indelibly printed in my memory and were crucial to my development as a singer. It gives me great pleasure to fund this series of Master Classes in Voice and to have the brilliant conductor Jordan de Souza as our special guest this year. I plan to continue to sponsor other great artists in this series in the years to come.
Sincerely, Riki Turofsky
